(\u201cCXI\u201d), EBC&#8217;s parent company, when it began operating in October 2007. From 1989 to 2003, Mr. Pinna was President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Foreign Currency Exchange Corp., and remained in this role after the friendly acquisition by Bank of Ireland Group until October of 2007. Mr. Pinna was responsible for the growth of Foreign Currency Exchange Corp from a small, one-location operation in Tampa Bay, Florida, to being a multinational publicly-traded company on the TSX with over 30,000 customer and client bank locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Bank of Ireland Group, Mr. Pinna was Chief Executive Officer for the North American Foreign Exchange Business and was involved in all aspects of the North American business, including asset management, lending, foreign exchange, and accounting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor&#8217;s degree in finance with a focus on international business, Mr. Pinna has over 30 years of experience in international banking with an emphasis on foreign exchange.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"learn-more\"><a class=\"button has-small-font-size\" href=\"#\" target=\"_self\">Learn more<\/a><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"team-loop d-flex\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"team-member\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"member-img\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebc.paulainc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Gerhard.png\" alt=\"Gerhard S. He immigrated to Canada in 2007 where he worked as CFO and SVP of Olympia Financial Group Inc. for 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Barnard graduated with a bachelor&#8217;s degree in accounting from the University of Pretoria, an honors degree in accounting from the University of South Africa and a master&#8217;s degree in financial management from the University of Johannesburg. Mr. Winkel has more than 25 years of risk management experience comprising financial and non-financial risk in a variety of cultural and linguistic contexts: Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Japan and Canada. Mr. Winkel started his career in a Dutch business of ING Group in the Netherlands, followed by roles at the corporate headquarters of ING Group, ING Direct, and ING Direct Australia. Mr. Winkel subsequently worked as market and operational risk manager at the ING Direct Treasury in Spain, and was the head of financial risk management for over two years in Japan during the start-up of ING Direct Japan. In 2009, he continued his career in Canada at ING Direct in financial risk and enterprise risk management. He moved to Scotiabank in 2013 as Vice President of liquidity and interest rate risk. He was the secretary of the Bank ALCO at Scotiabank and recognition ambassador of the global risk management group in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Winkel earned a master&#8217;s degree in financial economics from the Free University in Amsterdam and is a Certified EFFAS Financial Analyst (\u201cRBA\u201d). He is a member of the Canadian Asset and Liability Management Association (CALMA), and the North American Asset and Liability Management Association (NALMA). Ms. Esmail&#8217;s role evolved from the Deputy CAMLO in 2019, to CAMLO in December 2020. In March 2022, her role was as Interim CCO and CAMLO and is now the CCO\/CAMLO for EBC. She has over 20 years of experience in regulatory compliance and AML\/ATF through several projects within financial industry segments, including mid and large size banks in all three lines of defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining EBC, Ms. Esmail oversaw the Capital Markets AML at BMO for four years, and was in the AML and Risk advisory services with Deloitte for over 12 years. He was the secretary of the Bank ALCO at Scotiabank and recognition ambassador of the global risk management group in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Winkel earned a master&#8217;s degree in financial economics from the Free University in Amsterdam and is a Certified EFFAS Financial Analyst (\u201cRBA\u201d). Ms. Davis is the Chair of the Liquidity Management Committee of EBC and CXI, with oversight responsibility of the organization\u2019s global cash and liquidity position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Davis brings to the Group her experience working in investment banking and commercial banking in New York\u2019s money center banks, where she advised corporate treasury teams with best practice risk mitigation strategies. He is currently the sole proprietor of the law firm Mickleborough Lawyers which commenced operations at the beginning of 2018. Previously he was a partner with the law firm Fournie Mickleborough LLP since 2006. Mr. Bhavsar was the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Florida Choice Bank from April 1999 until March 2002, and Senior Audit Manager of Hacker Johnson Cohen and Grieb, a specialized Accounting and Auditing firm for state and regional banks, from 1992 to 1999. Mr. Bhavsar is also a director of Currency Exchange International Corp. (\u201cCXI\u201d), EBC\u2019s parent company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Bhavsar received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida in 1990 and received his Master&#8217;s degree in Accounting from the University of Florida in 1991. Mr. August was responsible for the development, marketing, delivery and end-to-end management of foreign exchange products in the personal and business markets across Canada and the United States. Mr. August previously led the Foreign Exchange, Trading, Payments and Ancillary Products Group for Retail and Commercial Banking; the Business Development \u2013 Trading Products Team in Commercial Banking; Treasury&#8217;s Product Management Group (foreign exchange, deposit, investment, interest rate risk management and precious metals); managed the hedging activity of the Bank&#8217;s Foreign Currency Exposure Management Committee; and headed the Bank&#8217;s Foreign Currency Exposure Management Group. He has also held various positions in Corporate Lending; Commercial Marketing \u2013 Cash Management; and Retail (Branch) Banking.
